Competitive Gymnastics
For gymnasts ready to train with greater commitment and compete — at Pakenham.
What Is Competitive Gymnastics?
Competitive Gymnastics at Reach is a structured program for gymnasts who are ready to take their skills further and experience performing in a competition environment.
It builds on the foundations developed in our recreational classes and introduces a more focused approach to skill development, strength, and consistency. Gymnasts work towards routines on apparatus and have the opportunity to represent Reach at competitions throughout the year.
Our program is designed to challenge each gymnast at their own level while maintaining a positive, supportive environment where effort, progress and confidence matter just as much as results.
Who Is It For?
Our Competitive Gymnastics program is for gymnasts who show a strong interest in progressing their skills and are ready for a greater level of commitment.
Gymnasts are typically invited into the program through coach recommendation, based on their skill level, attitude, and readiness to train more consistently.
It suits children who:
- Enjoy working towards goals
- Are motivated to improve and be challenged
- Can follow structured coaching and feedback
- Are excited by the idea of performing and competing
We offer different entry points depending on age and experience, ensuring every gymnast can find the right fit.
What Does Competitive Training Involve?
Competitive Gymnastics involves a step up in both training and commitment, with gymnasts attending multiple classes per week.
Training focuses on:
- Skill development across apparatus
- Strength, flexibility and body control
- Routine preparation and execution
- Building confidence in a performance setting
Gymnasts will learn routines suited to their level and prepare to perform these at competitions. Alongside physical skills, we place a strong emphasis on resilience, goal setting, and learning how to handle both challenges and success.
Our coaches work closely with each gymnast to support their progress and ensure they feel confident and prepared every step of the way.

The Competition Pathway
Our Competitive Gymnastics pathway provides a clear and supportive progression, allowing gymnasts to build confidence, develop skills, and grow their love for the sport over time.
Gymnasts progress through the following levels:
- Futures Level 1 & 2 (Futures Competitions)
A great introduction to competitive gymnastics. Gymnasts learn basic routines, gain confidence performing in front of others, and experience their first competitions in a fun and supportive environment. - Foundation League
Builds on fundamental skills and introduces more structured routines, helping gymnasts develop consistency and confidence in competition settings. - Entry League
Gymnasts begin refining technique and increasing skill difficulty while continuing to build their competition experience. - Pre League
A transition level that prepares gymnasts for higher expectations, with a stronger focus on execution, strength, and routine quality. - Senior Leagues (AGC Competitions)
For gymnasts ready to take their training and performance further, with multiple levels to suit progression and goals: - Development
- Junior
- Club
- Rep
- Pro
At this stage, gymnasts continue to build advanced skills, improve performance quality, and gain experience in a more structured competition environment.
Our pathway is designed to support each gymnast’s individual journey. Progression is based on readiness, not just age, ensuring every gymnast feels challenged, capable, and confident as they move through the program.
